GUESTS (April 6-7)

The following guests are scheduled to appear at Dallas Comic Show’s Holiday Special held April 6-7, 2019. The show will be held at the Richardson Civic Center in Richardson, TX (located on the Southwest corner of Arapaho Road and Central 75 Expressway). All guest appearances are subject to work commitments. Guests appear both days of the show unless otherwise noted.  Scroll down to bios for info on media guest prices – subject to change. In rare instances some guests may have to postpone their appearances due to work commitments, we always try to note if that’s occurred as soon as possible. Please note, Media Guests charge to sign your items or their merchandise, and most charge a fee for photos with them. Most comic book guests do not charge for autographs, but it’s always wise to ask first.

Cullen Bunn – New York Times bestselling comic book writer of Indie titles like DAMNED, THE SIXTH GUN and HARROW COUNTY, and mainstream books like ASGARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, CAPTAIN AMERICA, CONAN, DEADPOOL, DEADPOOL KILLS THE MARVEL UNIVERSE, DRAX, FEARLESS DEFENDERS, LOBO, MAGNETO, MONSTERS UNLEASHED, THE SHADOW, SINESTRO, STAR WARS: DARTH MAUL, SUPERIOR CARNAGE, WOLVERINE, VENOM, VENOMIZED, X-MEN BLUE and more. Joseph Michael Linsner – in 1989 introduced to “Dawn” in CRY FOR DAWN, would later feature her in books like DRAMA, CRYPT OF DAWN, DAWN: LUCIFER’S HALO, DAWN: RETURN OF THE GODDESS, DAWN: THREE TIERS and the DAWN/VAMPIRELLA mini-series. Worked on Marvel Comics like MYSTIQUE, KILLRAVEN, CLAWS,WOLVERINE AND BLACK CAT: CLAWS II, BLACK PANTHER, and AVENGERS, more recently DC Comics’ HARLEY QUINN, and has book working on Dynamite titles like BETTIE PAGEBARBARELLA, and of course VAMPIRELLA. You can currently see his stunning work on the ELVIRA: MISTRESS OF THE DARK comics.

Joe Quinones – cover and interior artist on books like FIREFLY, AMERICA, BATMAN ETERNAL, CAPTAIN MARVEL, HOWARD THE DUCK, JUGHEAD, PETER PARKER: SPIDER-MAN, STAR WARS, THUNDERBOLTS and more.  His new DC book DIAL H FOR HERO hits stores the week before the show. First time in Dallas!  Joe is appearing courtesy of Splash Page Art.

Adam Warren – cover and/or interior artist of DIRTY PAIR, GEN13, EMPOWERED, BATTLE CHASERS, ALL-NEW X-FACTOR, BARB WIRE, BATTLE CHASERS, CHIX, CRIMSON, DEADPOOL, DARK HORSE PRESENTS, FANTASTIC FOUR, IRON MAN: HYPERVELOCITY, LIVEWIRES, ROBOTECH, STAR WARS MANGA, TITANS: SCISSORS PAPER STONE, and more.

Kristina Deak-Linsner – creative editor on several of Joe linsner’s recent books, and wrote and provided cover art for Dynamite Entertainment’s VAMPIRELLA: ROSES FOR THE DEAD mini-series as well. A reference model and all-purpose wrangler at Linsner Industries, and founder of LinsnerIsTheNewDark Art Studios, she’s also done illustrations for DAWN and RED SONJA trading cards, and other gorgeous pieces that are a reflection of her own stunning beauty.

Becky Cloonan – artist of DETECTIVE COMICS #1000, SOUTHERN CROSS, SHADE THE CHANGING GIRL, PUNISHER, MOON KNIGHT, AMERICAN VIRGIN, THE KITCHEN, GOTHAM ACADEMY and more.  Appearing SATURDAY ONLY at the Splash Page Art booth, signing from 11am to 1pm, and then 2:30 to 4:00pm.

James O’Barr – creator and artist of THE CROW comic book series (celebrating its 30th Anniversary), which has spawned four movies and a television series, statues and action figures. A new big screen reboot is also said to be on its way.

Brandon Peterson – while his incredible covers can be seen on DC’s GREEN LANTERNS, Brandon has worked on Marvel’s AGE OF ULTRON, AVENGERS, ALL-NEW X-MEN, ASTONISHING X-MEN, GAMBIT, INCREDIBLE HULK, MAGNETO REX, NOVA, ULTIMATE EXTINCTION, ULTIMATE X-MEN, UNCANNY INHUMANS, UNCANNY X-MEN, and X-MEN. Independent titles include ARCANUM, CHIMERA, CODENAME: STRYKEFORCE, EDGE, GLORY, MYSTIC, SHADOW/BATMAN, and more.  Currently working on SUPERMAN.

Matthew Crawford – freelance writer and artist, work includes forthcoming projects for DC Comics, the best-selling MOSS BABIES ADVENTURE ZINE, and a variety of small press releases through Mystery School Comics Group including VERDUGO: DARK RETURNING, and SLEIGHT.  Appearing SATURDAY ONLY at the Splash Page Art booth, signing from 11am to 1pm, and then 2:30 to 4:00pm.

Matthew Weldon – writer of the hit Antarctic Press comic book PUNCHLINE.

Bill Williams – writer of the hit Antarctic Press comic book PUNCHLINE.

Kerry Gammill – artist of POWER MAN / IRON FIST, MARVEL TEAM-UP, UNCANNY X-MEN and DEADLY FOES OF SPIDER-MAN at Marvel Comics. His DC Comics work includes ACTION COMICS, SUPERMAN, SUPERGIRL, POWER GIRL and TEEN TITANS. Appearing Saturday Only, schedule permitting.

Steve Erwin – artist of DEATHSTROKE: THE TERMINATOR, CHECKMATE, STAR TREK, and Robert Heinlein’s CITIZEN OF THE GALAXY. Appearing Sunday Only.

MEDIA GUEST BIOS:

Sheryl Lee – she played the ill-fated Laura Palmer, the entire focus and driving force of the David Lynch series TWIN PEAKS. Sheryl got a chance to expand that role in the movie TWIN PEAKS: FIRE WALK WITH ME, and was also involved in the recent Showtime revival. Lee appeared in TV shows like ONE TREE HILL, DIRTY SEXY MONEY, and L.A. DOCTORS. She’s also starred in movies like John Carpenter’s VAMPIRES, WINTER’S BONE, BACKBEAT, MOTHER NIGHT, and WILD AT HEART. James Marshall – appeared in movies like CADENCE, A FEW GOOD MEN, AIR BUD: GOLDEN RECEIVERLUCK OF THE DRAW, and his leading role in the 1992 movie GLADIATOR about underground boxing. His TV roles started with MURDER SHE WROTE, and continued in series like CHINA BEACH, GROWING PAINS, CSI, and he’ll soon be seen in the series THREE KNEE DEEP. Starred as James Hurley in the David Lynch series TWIN PEAKS, FIRE WALK WITH ME, and the Showtime revival. (Autograph $40, professional photo op $35)

Eric DaRe – after beginning his career in SILENT NIGHT DEADLY NIGHT 3: BETTER WATCH OUT, Eric DaRe would later appear in television shows like THE FLASH 1990 pilot and SEAQUEST 2032, and movies like CRITTERS 4PLAYING GOD and STARSHIP TROOPERS. But most know him as the intimidating Leo Johnson on David Lynch’s TWIN PEAKS and the movie FIRE WALK WITH ME(Autograph $40, professional photo op $35)

Cal Dodd – the voice of Wolverine beginning in 1992 with the X-MEN Animated Series, also in the SPIDER-MAN animated series, and all those awesome X-MEN arcade games and the MARVEL VS CAPCOM games. (Autograph $30, professional photo op $30)

Wendy Powell (appearing Saturday Only) – the voice of “Envy” in all of the various FULL METAL ALCHEMIST productions, also voice of Gi-Gan in YONA OF THE DAWN, Miss Merry Christmas in ONE PIECE, and Mukuro in YU-YU HAKUSHO: GHOST FILES. (Autograph $TBA, photo ops available at the table)

B Charlotte D Cosplay – an actress, model and professional cosplayer with a passion for video games, anime, movies and all things nerdy. She’s quickly becoming a fan favorite at various Texas events, and even won first place in one of our previous costume contests. Outside of her amazing cosplays, she also does theater acting and modeling, and is constantly in demand for photoshoots. Be sure to stop by her table and say hi! MCubed Cosplay – DFW based but Houston born and raised cosplayer and model most widely known for her movie-accurate Slave Leia and Rey. Marla has served as a Cosplay Against Bullying guest at Indy Pop Con and as a 501st Diamond Garrison Cosplay Guest at Comi-Conway  Appearing Saturday only.

Who Needs Sleep – a 36-hour live broadcast to raise money to fight cancer, going into its third year, this next time back on the post-Christmas Weekend.

Heroic Inner Kids – The first Texas formed cosplay IRS certified 501c3 nonprofit, charitable organization. They provide creative educational support to the at-risk and heath challenged future generation of the North Texas area. Heroic Inner Kids works with international, national and local organizations in conjunction with their Educational and Medical Advocacy programs. They provide local community support via Kids Cosplay Contests, ExtraLife team sponsorship, local school support, hospital visits and more. Star Garrison of the 501st Legion – we’re honored to have a large number of The Star Garrison of The 501st Legion joining us. The 501st Legion is a worldwide Star Wars costuming organization comprised of and operated by Star Wars fans.
